Western Lesotho Tours

The Lowlands, in the western part of Lesotho, are at such an elevation that most countries would consider them uplands! A heavily farmed and populated yet pretty region, the small mission town of Morija has a cluster of historical buildings. The Maletsunyane Falls, the highest waterfall in Southern Africa, is accessible by foot (5 kms), is the highest waterfall in Southern Africa, plunging down into a natural, swimmable pool with unspoiled and stunning scenery, particularly in summer when the flow is highest. In winter the water freezes, forming a stunning ice cage over the pool. Experience the world's highest abseil down into the gorge, or enjoy some of the country’s best pony treks here. Western Lesotho is rarely visited by international travellers as it offers only fairly simple guest houses and is a long drive from anywhere else, but to those who make the beautiful drive here it offers fantastic hiking, horse riding and cultural encounters.
