During the dry season (June to October) there is an annual animal migration as wildlife travel from other areas into the park to quench their thirst in the waters of the Tarangire River.

Manyara National Park occupies a vast area, spread over 330 square kilometers, and has a lake covering 200 square kilometers of this area.
