2 Explore the Ruins of Sukhothai

The ruins of Sukhothai are impressive evidence of the golden era of Thai civilization. In the 13th and 14th century, Sukhothai was the capital of the Siam Kingdom and, due to its numerous temples and ruins, is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Discover the temple zone with its prominent yet unique Sukhothai lotus-bud chedi (stupa or Buddhist shrine). Admire remnants of early 13th century Khmer and Lopburi architecture, floral stucco reliefs and Lopburi-style ‘apsaras’ (celestial nymphs).
