Enchanting Travels Travel Writer Award 2017!
Enchanting Travels is one of the leading travel companies for private, tailor-made trips. We offer custom, tailor-made journeys to 40 destinations in Africa, South America, Asia and India. We believe that travel is not just inspiring but transformative, and therefore invite you to share your personal experiences with us.
To celebrate the fascinating stories that can only be experienced when one travels, we award the Enchanting Travels Travel Writer Grant. Starting in 2017, the grant will be awarded annually. The winner of this prestigious new award will win USD$1000, as well as the opportunity to take up an internship or write your thesis at Enchanting Travels.
Who can apply: Any student aged between 18 to 32, studying any of the following subject themes, or similar: Tourism, English, Journalism, Literature, Geography, Anthropology, History.
Your travelogues should be submitted as a PDF via email, by 31 August 2017 to travelawards@enchantingtravels.com.
A jury of our own travel experts will choose the 10 best submissions, and the winner will be determined by online voting on the Enchanting Travels Facebook page.
The author of the travelogue which receives the most likes between 10 September 2017 and 30 September 2017 will receive the award.
The Enchanting Travels Travel Writer Award 2017 at a glance:
- For any student aged between 18 to 32 years who is studying any of the following subject themes, or similar: Tourism, English, Journalism, Literature, Geography, Anthropology, History.
- Submit your travelogue of no more than 1000 words, with three photos
- Deadline: 31 August 2017
- The 10 best travelogues will be nominated by an Enchanting Travels jury and will be published on the Enchanting Travels website and Facebook page
- The grant will be awarded to the author who receives the most Facebook likes until 30 September 2017
- Enchanting Travels reserves the right to use your writing and images on its own website and social media channels.

Q. I am not a student, can I still apply?
A. We accept entries from only school or college (university) students.
Q. My age is outwith the guidelines, can I still apply?
A. Sorry not this time – we have kept the age limits in place to ensure a fair awarding of similar writing styles.
Q. I am a non-native English speaker, can I still apply?
A. Absolutely! We welcome and encourage multiculturalism at Enchanting Travels! Our team is one of the most diverse you will find in a travel company!
Q. What format should my writing be in?
A. That is completely up to you. We recommend you write up to 1000 words with plenty of sections and headings, to ensure it is easier for our readers. Short, catchy sentences are awesome, as are long prose.
Q. When is the deadline for sending my entry?
A. 31 August 2017
Q. When is the deadline for voting on Facebook?
A. 30 September 2017
Q. What should be the resolution of photos I send?
A. We recommend a minimum of 1200 DPI, or 1000 x 800 px (landscape), but we really don’t mind!
Q. Does the destination I write about have to be one that Enchanting Travels offers?
A. No, you can write about any travel experience in your essay.
Q. Will I have to write my thesis/dissertation about Enchanting Travels?
A. Not at all. That is a completely optional offer that the company extends to our prize winner.
Q. What format should I send the photos in? Should I send them in the document itself?
A. Please send your photos separately as an attachment (we accept .jpg/.jpeg/.gif/.tiff or .png files). Please do not send them in the document.
Q. What format should my essay be in?
A. We prefer a PDF document, however a Word document is also acceptable.
Q. Do I have to be a student of Tourism/Travel/Geography/Literature/English etc? What is a similar subject?
A. While we prefer students already studying related subjects we also welcome students who have a general personal interest in travel, even if Tourism or English etc. is not your major. Send in your entry to us anyway!
