We went with high expectations and were not disappointed! CAMBODIA Siem Reap Our journey began with our absolute highlight: a visit to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Our local guide Rith was highly knowledgeable and brought us closer to this fascinating temple complex, while remaining sensitive to our needs. We felt like we were in paradise during our stay at Angkor Village Resort and Spa in Siem Reap! Phnom Penh We were in the heart of the city of Phnom Penh, where we stayed in a huge suite at the White Mansion Boutique Hotel. Aside from the fact that it was ingeniously equipped with every comfort, its location allowed us many opportunities to discover the city on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Phou, who was a wonderful tour guide and brought the city to life. We visited the beautiful Royal Palace, and took a very touching and meaningful tour of the Genocide Museum with her. Phou gave us a deep insight into Cambodia’s history and shared much about her own life with us. VIETNAM Hanoi In Hanoi, our tour guide Ta was simply unbeatable, especially on the rickshaw ride through the Old Quarter. It’s so clear that Ta loves her country and lives for her job. She brought us closer to Vietnamese culture with heart and humor. We also had a fantastic time with her at the water puppet theater. Halong Bay On the Dragon's Pearl, a romantic ship with cosy cabins, we took a cruise through Halong Bay. This was a beautiful experience. We went on a paddle boat off the main ship, visited a fantastic cave, and got caught in a sudden rain shower! SOUTH EASTASIA P E R S O N A L M O M E N T S 17 GOING SLOW Can Tho The floating markets were an amazing experience - and simply gigantic! It was intriguing to watch the traders going about their daily business. Our local guide was great and always taking care of drinks and fruits. We tasted fresh pineapple on the boat of a market woman – it was heavenly. Ho Chi Minh City The War Museum was very impressive, but also very sad. Kudos to our local guide Dao, who totally impressed us with her excellent language skills, wit and caring nature. We took a walking tour of the city, which included some retail therapy in a shopping mall, and Dao showed us many things that we would not have normally seen on our own. Mui Ne Before returning home, we spent a few days at the magical resort of Cham Villas, surrounded by miles of sandy beaches. Our beach villa was just gorgeous and equipped with all imaginable amenities. This was the perfect way to end a truly unforgettable journey! It was a privilege to get to know these wonderful countries and the people because of the personal contact afforded us by our local guides. We really liked the exclusivity they provided us. The organization and the hotel selection were great. Everything was perfectly planned and we always felt we were in good hands, safe and cared for. It was our first trip with Enchanting Travels - but certainly not our last!
