Smart cookie Amber Irl, aged 9, speaks out on why she loves her annual vacation to Coconut Lagoon and Marari Beach in Kerala, and what responsible travel means to her! Why do you like visiting Coconut Lagoon and Marari Beach? AMBER: I like the hotels because usually we have our own villa for our family in which we can do what we want. The hotels have great pools and sometimes our villa even has it own small private pool. The staff are all very child friendly and we have a lot of fun with them. Why is a green hotel important? AMBER: It is important that we save the environment and do not leave our garbage in nature, so that not only human beings, but plants and animals can have a good life. Above this, I find hotels that are built from natural materials much nicer. What is your favorite travel memory in Kerala? AMBER: We celebrated the festival of Onam at Marari and Coconut Lagoon and I was allowed to help make patterns from petals on the floor and decorate the reception and the restaurant with it! Why is it important to be responsible when you travel? AMBER: I think we should think of nature every day and live accordingly. When we travel we are guests in a different country with different people and as guests we should use the things around us very carefully as they do not belong to us. I also want the nature in Kerala to stay beautiful so that I can come back many times.
